GENERAL QUESTIONS

Unfortunately not. But maybe you are a camper? You can easily park your campervan at our training spots in the south of Fehmarn. Have a look at „Contact“, you'll find us there! The best place to stay overnight is at the campsite!

Yes, you can park your motorhome at our main training spot in Burgstaaken during the day. Staying overnight is prohibited.
You can hire Wingfoil equipment from us after the Wingfoil course! Exclusively for Wingfoil Fehmarn students! Equipment hire starts from €120 for 2 hours.

Yes, we offer discounted wingfoil courses for families of 3 or more people. Just check the booking form! For special cases just write to us!

We no longer offer foil training at the wake park.

The difference is as follows: training on the cable winch can be done quickly and spontaneously. This means you can react very well to the weather. With the wakepark track hire, we have to „rent“ the track and therefore need more lead time. You also have to paddle or walk 200 metres out with the cable winch to be pulled back in. On the other hand, the walk is 2-3 times longer than at the wake park.

Both are mega cool foil training :-) Also the foil training behind the boat.
Here is another blog post about the cable winch:

No! Equipped with the right training material and the right training technique, you will learn to foil at the same speed as windsurfing or kitesurfing.

For even faster learning success, we offer special „foil training“, e.g. pulling behind the tow-boogie or our cool e-cable winch.

Complete equipment costs money. Good quality equipment costs between €2,500 and €4,000. There are currently still few second-hand products on the market. The second-hand market is still developing. Find out well which equipment is right for you. The good thing is that the equipment hardly loses any value: the money is not gone. You get a lot of money back when you sell it. We also have used equipment in stock from time to time.

As a beginner, you shouldn't just start wingfoiling. You need to know a few things before you start.

If you approach the topic inexperienced, the beautiful sport will cost you unnecessary Time, and above all too much Money. Why? You have to buy and try everything yourself.

The surf market is not particularly easy to navigate, especially for beginners. With us, you can „get to grips“ with everything and form your own opinion. We'll tell you what's important! A good wingfoil course will save you time and money.

It's usually due to the wrong material. Board too big or too small, foil too big or too small. Or you haven't done a course? ;-) Another reason can be incorrectly adjusted equipment. Especially if you combine a board and a foil from different manufacturers. We will be happy to help you set up your equipment correctly and advise you.

Wingfoiling is a sport in which the material must be very well tuned. The better it is tuned, the less effort is required on the wing and therefore in the arms.

This depends entirely on the skill, motor skills and previous experience of the student. In general, the learning curve for wingfoiling can be compared to that of kitesurfing. There is now a lot of experience here. As an example, let's take an inexperienced student who has no experience in water sports:

Wingfoiling is a quicker way to learn, as the material is less complex. Especially when it comes to the wing kite. A shorter safety briefing is sufficient as, for example, no lines are used that can be tied on incorrectly. This means that it is always quicker to get into the water than with kitesurfing. The students feel very safe at the beginning as you can let go of the wing at any time. With the wing, you can start immediately without a foil - you're off!

When it comes purely to board control, the learning success in kitesurfing is very high, as the normal kiteboard is much easier to control than a board with a foil. At least at the beginning. Foiling correctly and riding „upwind“ requires skill and practice. After the beginner's course, you will know everything you need to know to go to the spot on your own and continue practising safely.

In the end, after 8-10 hours of wingfoil/kiteboarding lessons, roughly the same progress is made. Some people start immediately after completing the beginner's course, others need a little longer.

No! Of course you make faster progress with a certain level of athleticism and prior knowledge. But that's the case with any new sport you learn. A good sense of balance is also always an advantage. A windsurfing course that you have already completed will help you the most. Windsurfing is the closest thing to wingfoiling. Windsurfing has already given you a feel for what it's like to actively work with the wind. You know the manoeuvre circle and always keep your nose right into the wind. But even as a beginner, you will progress very quickly with wingfoiling - that's a promise!

For those who find kitesurfing too risky, wingfoiling is just the thing. There are no crowded spots and you can do your own thing. If you are overpowered, you will realise this and simply throw the wing away. It then floats in front of you without pressure or lies gently on the water. You are only connected to a small hand line. There is almost zero risk of injury.

The best place is at Wingfoil Fehmarn :-) Our school has specialised in wingfoiling. We do nothing else and live the thing 100% :) Learning to wingfoil on the island of Fehmarn is ideal. We always find the perfect spot, regardless of the wind direction. With Fehmarn's 78 kilometres of coastline, the island offers plenty of space for water sports enthusiasts.

Anyone can learn to wingfoil as long as they are physically and mentally fit and healthy. We train young students from the age of 12 and have already had some students over 75 years of age on the course :-)

QUESTIONS ABOUT WINGFOIL FEHMARN

We are the first school in Germany to specialise in wingfoiling and prepared for the course in winter 2019. We started lessons in May 2020, with Malte being one of the first Germans to take up the sport in mid-2019. Kim, Daniel and Nina then quickly followed suit :-)

We have made something very important to us: Quality before quantity!

You'll really learn something with us. Why? Because we cater to your individual needs and do not support mass training programmes. We also know the market, all the products and can provide you with complete information about foiling. We are the best in our field. The aim of a beginner's course is to equip you as a student with the basic knowledge of this new water sport. After a 4-8 hour beginner's course, everyone can go to the spot independently and confidently and continue learning without endangering themselves or others. Whether you are a complete water sports beginner or an advanced water sports enthusiast, we cater to your individual needs and guarantee successful learning. Check out our large selection of different courses.

We are certain that a good training concept can only work if the teacher really takes time for the student and has a high level of expertise in the respective sport. Our motto: quality instead of quantity! We have a maximum of 2-4 people per instructor in practical lessons. This guarantees rapid learning success.

We train with high quality material, which is perfectly designed for training. The right equipment is available for every skill level.

Our inflatable boats are an absolute highlight. The boats are used depending on the wind direction. We also look at your individual level of ability. For example, we can „set you out“ on the open sea in private lessons and let you drift. You will then make your first foil attempts under constant supervision. If the wind direction is right for one of our dream spots, we are sometimes even better off without a boat and check where the water depth is suitable. We have various spots to choose from. Some of them are only accessible by boat. Every day we look anew at where and how we can best train you!

We will be happy to advise you after your course. So you know exactly what you need to equip yourself with to continue practising successfully. We are also available for you at any time after the course.

Our training concept was developed over months of collaboration with experienced water sports enthusiasts during the start-up phase in 2019. The training programme is based on the standard training concepts for windsurfing and kitesurfing, specialising in wingfoiling.
Your safety and your learning success are our top priority.

We mainly train with F-One Material. The „STRIKE“ and „SWING“ models have great advantages for beginners, advanced and professionals. A good, well-balanced wing will help you learn quickly. A suitable board is also important. Would you like to buy really high-quality equipment after the course? We always have second-hand equipment, including a full guarantee. We will be happy to advise you and help you with anything you need!

We have different course formats so that there is a suitable course for everyone. Whether for water sports beginners, experienced water sports enthusiasts or wingfoilers who want to learn even more.

If you are new to water sports, we recommend either the „Surfing without Foil“ course or the 8-hour Premium course. After the Premium course you are ready to continue practising on your own.

For water sports enthusiasts, e.g. windsurfers or kiters, the 4-hour beginners' course is ideal. Optionally, 2 hour units can be booked later. The 2-hour units are also ideal for water sports enthusiasts who already have experience with the wing and want to improve their skills. During the course, we will cater to your exact wishes - whether it's safe foiling or specific manoeuvres that you finally want to learn. If you would like a more personalised approach, simply book a private course.

If you finally want to get on the foil or improve your foil skills, the „Pulling behind the boat“ course is the best choice! A real experience! Or our brand new format „Foiling goes Wakepark“!

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MATERIAL

You can hire Wingfoil equipment from us after the Wingfoil course. Exclusively for Wingfoil Fehmarn students!

Experience has shown that a loop is more suitable for training. Especially for newcomers to water sports. The boom gives you too many grip options. The heavier weight also makes handling more difficult. With a loop wing, you can concentrate fully on the board as the grip positions are predetermined. Once you are fit and know how to handle the wing, you are faced with the decision: Boom or strap. Both systems have their clear advantages! The boom also has particularly attractive features. We will be happy to advise you and give you useful tips and tricks.

That's not so easy to answer. Just contact us and we'll advise you on the right setup! It depends on your ambitions, your previous knowledge, your area of use, body weight and other factors. The right equipment is very important when wingfoiling. If the equipment isn't right, you won't have any fun. This new water sport is very efficiency-based. Also check out our cool blogs on this topic.

That's not easy to answer. Some love to playfully dance around on the board without straps, others can't ride properly without them. It's a question of familiarisation and the area of use. Jumping is difficult without straps, and manoeuvres are much more difficult. The manoeuvres have to flow elegantly into one another. Conclusion: Buy straps and give it a try. One condition: You are not a beginner and can already foil safely. Otherwise, loops are too dangerous and will hinder your learning progress!

The great thing about wingfoiling is the fact that you don't need a harness. This makes the handling very playful. But of course, you can mount a harness and also ride in a harness! It depends on which model you buy. There are Wings with a harness ramp option and some without. Check out our cool blog

You think you have a lot of „clutter“ because the board is so big? Not quite! The equipment is only big during training. After a course, you'll usually be ready for a smaller board with a volume of around 80 - 140 litres. This fits in the boot of your car. With more advanced riding skills, you can quickly switch to an even smaller board. Standard sizes are around 150-170cm. We probably don't need to talk about the wing. When rolled up, it's smaller than a sleeping bag and weighs only half as much ;-)

As a water sports beginner, definitely not. And that's easy to understand: You run the risk of getting one foot caught in the loop and falling in a very unfavourable position. You could twist your foot and injure yourself. If you already have previous experience in water sports, it's OK to start with loops.
